A cabochon opal glows at the centre of this long, slender bar brooch, its soft blues and greens set off by a pair of old cut diamonds on either side. Made in 18ct white gold and platinum, the openwork bar measures 62.5mm in length and 10mm in depth. Further old cut diamonds, totalling approximately 0.72ct, are set along the bar, gathered into small diamond-shaped clusters and scattered along the pierced curves of the frame. Fine beaded detailing runs around the edges, giving the whole design a delicate, lace-like quality. The long, narrow shape makes the brooch easy to wear on a lapel, a collar or the front of a jacket. It is a pretty, understated piece in which the gentle colour of the opal is the main attraction.
