Victorian Floral Pendant

A Victorian mourning pendant in 18ct yellow gold, set with rose cut garnets arranged in a floral cluster around a central woven hair compartment. The sculptural flower form is finished with repoussé-style gold petals and contrasting silvered leaf details, suspended from a later 9ct gold chain. The deep red garnets display the darker, wine-toned appearance characteristic of nineteenth-century stones, with rose cut facets producing a softer reflective surface than later brilliant cuts. The central glazed compartment containing woven hair reflects the sentimental symbolism commonly found in Victorian mourning jewellery. Rich in texture and period detail, the pendant combines sentimental function with dramatic floral styling. The contrast between dark garnets, warm gold and oxidised detailing gives the piece a distinctly Gothic Victorian character with strong visual depth.
