Butterfly Ring

A butterfly-form ring in 9ct yellow gold, set throughout with synthetic opals in graduating round and pear shaped settings. The design combines textured gold detailing with opal-set wings and body sections arranged in a symmetrical spread-wing composition. The opals display vivid flashes of blue, green and soft pink against the warm yellow gold framework, giving the ring strong colour movement across the surface. Rounded cabochon settings soften the overall silhouette, while the raised butterfly form creates a more sculptural profile on the hand. Playful in character but detailed in construction, the ring has a distinctly late twentieth-century feel. The combination of iridescent synthetic opal, exaggerated wing shape and rich gold tone gives the piece a bold decorative presence.
